Story Storm: Write as You Go  24th– 28th June 2019

This exciting, intensive 5-day course in beautiful Andalucia this June is perfect for writers with some experience who want to build their skills, as well as confident beginners or rusty writers.

We’ll start with an inspiring Story Storm to get you focused on an idea and an engaging opening. Each day you’ll build on your story, adding new elements and learning new skills until you’ve written a complete original short story to share over drinks on our final evening.

Structured workshops every morning concentrate on scene setting, character creation, authentic dialogue, and the development of plot, theme and structure to create a satisfying narrative. Afternoons are free for writing plus one-to-one sessions with our tutors before we reconnect as a group in the evening for readings and feedback over pre-dinner drinks. Workshops take place in a typical, spacious town house with large tables for group work and a choice of spaces for individual writing time including three terraces.

Chalk founders Jo and Ardella

The course tutors are Ardella Jones and Jo Hepplewhite:  Check out their biogs here

Fees for the five-day course are £350. This includes all tuition, drinks, nibbles and a glass of wine during reading sessions. A final supper at a restaurant will be optional.

We can arrange accommodation for non-residents in a self-catering villa or apartment in Gaucin near the teaching venue.  Picturesque Gaucin, with its views of Morocco, is a perfect base for sight-seeing in the Sierra Ronda and just 45 minutes from the Malaga coast and Gibraltar airport.  Flights from UK are normally under £200 return.
