Residential courses

Let Chalk the Sun take you to Masseria Impisi, a stunning fortified farmhouse, high in the olive groves of rural Puglia, three kilometres from the ancient town of Ostuni, southern Italy. You can explore your creative potential in seven intensive days of writing, eating delicious home-cooked food, drinking local wine and swimming in the natural rock pool or simply sun-lounging. You can see how our hosts artist Leonie and sculptor David created this inspiring venue on Channel 4′s Grand Designs on YouTube.

There are inspiring walks and the Adriatic coast is only a short bicycle ride away.

This seven day retreat will be an invaluable creative opportunity whether you are developing a children’s story, completing your novel, seeking fresh inspiration for your poetry or taking time to experiment with writing for the first time. Each morning will feature an optional workshop with handouts and personalised tasks. You will also receive individual feedback, goal-setting and one-to-one developmental tutorials from expert tutors. Our specialists Ardella Jones and Children’s publishing professional Simona Sideri cover fiction as well as writing for children,  poetry, travelogues and memoirs.  Afternoon hours are up to you, and the evenings are spent sharing work over a leisurely dinner and glass of wine. We also have a fun quiz and a story competition at our grand finale dinner.

The £950 fee includes personalised tuition, accommodation in shared twin rooms, self-catered breakfast, lunch on arrival and departure, pre-dinner cocktails, three course suppers with wine, buffet lunches on working days, and group airport transfers from Bari.

You need to book your own flight and arrange travel insurance. Most participants take  the morning  British Airways flight to Bari from Gatwick.

We can only accommodate eight students so book early for 6 – 13th May 2018 contact us.  For more information on workshops, food, trips out and accommodation click here. SOLD OUT
